Year 2 History

Eight new teams joined the experts league in 2002:  plastic macs, Beer Nuts, Bounty Hunters, My Entire Team Sucks, LesExpostFantastiques, Duffman, Bloody Panties, and dawson madness.  Plastic macs, Beer Nuts, and My Entire Team Sucks (formerly Flushing Lumber Co.) came in from a strong reference from Small Market Pride.  (Thanks Jim!)  Bounty Hunters was in a 16 team NL Only Midseason league with me in 2001, and finished in 1st place.  Bounty Hunters also won this year's consolation bracket, defeating Hannibal's, Homeruncards, and Slam Man. LesExposFantastiques (formely To The Blue Room) was in a Public League with me in 2001, and also finished in 1st place.  Due to their strong showings, I thought Bounty Hunters and Expos would make a great fit for the experts league, and they were.  Thanks guys!  Duffman was the only person I recruited from the Yahoo Experts section this year, and I one I regretted, as he was a trouble maker all season long.  A recommendation from Duffman led me to recruit his roommate, Bloody Panties.  Obviously these two will not be back in 2003.  Stuck with just 19 teams and the draft coming shortly, I hastily invited dawson madness to the league.  This wasn't my best recruiting year to say the least.

Team Mullett is the only team to make the playoffs in both seasons, finishing 6th in Year 1, and 3rd in Year 2.  Although the question still remains, does he really have a mullett?  Homeruncards had the league's best second half record, going 82-44-6, but fell short of the playoffs, finishing in a tie for 6th place, losing the tiebreaker to Small Market Pride.  Considering SMP missed the playoffs by 1 game in Year 1, I was glad to see him make it.  Other greatly improved 2nd half performances were SMP (61-57-14 in the 1st half, 78-47-7 in the 2nd half), LesExpos (47-74-11 1st half, 63-60-9 2nd half).

Teams that greatly improved from Year 1 to Year 2 were Slam Man, going from 99 wins in Year 1 (19th place), to 134 wins in Year 2 (8th place).  Jack's Pile of Feces went from 127 wins in Year 1 (8th place), to 157 wins in Year 2 (1st place).

If anyone else remembers or would like to contribute to this year 2 history section, pleeeeeeze email me at homeruncards_com@yahoo.com.  Most of the info here is just stuff I remember off of the top of my head, and I'm sure you guys remember stuff that I don't.
